Literacy Classroom Connections

At each grade level I use literacy to supplement my art lessons.

Examples include:

  • Using brainstorming prompts and graphic organizers

  • Artist statements and reflections

  • Using poetry and written prompts for creating artwork

  • Using book clubs and the classroom library

  • Using Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) to explore artwork

  • Promotes higher level thinking skills like compare and contrast, analyzing, and problem solving.

STEAM (Science Technology Engineering  Art Math) Connections
